Since we are celebrating June as Reunification month we want to share the Reunification Framework from NSPCC.org (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). The reunification practice framework supports social workers’ professional judgement about if and how a child should return home. According to NSPCC,
“There is a widely held misconception that reunification is more successful if it happens within the first six months of a child entering care or accommodation. This is inaccurate. Children are more likely to return to their families in this time period, but research shows that when reunification happens without enough time to support parents to change, the child is more likely to re-experience abuse and neglect, and to come back into care or accommodation.”
